Mathew 4:17

From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

Romans 12:2

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

The word metanoia – from the Greek – means a transformation, a change of heart and mind. It’s the word Jesus used when He called people to repentance: “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near” (Matthew 4:17). Metanoia is more than regret; it’s an invitation to turn away from sin and toward the fullness of life in Christ.

As we begin this class, reflect on what God might be calling you to turn from and what He might be calling you toward. Consider the moments in your life when you felt stuck, burdened, or distant from Him. Metanoia reminds us that God’s grace is always an open door – a chance to realign our hearts and minds with His will.

In the stillness of this moment, imagine God gently asking you:

  • What do you need to let go of?
  • What do you need to embrace to walk closer with Me?

Let this reflection guide you as we enter into today’s learning. May this class be more than an academic exercise; may it be a step in your ongoing journey of metanoia – a journey of growing in faith, knowledge, and love.

Let us close with a brief prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for calling us to a life of transformation. Open our hearts and minds today to Your truth. Help us to turn away from what holds us back and walk boldly toward the life You’ve prepared for us. Bless our time together, that it may glorify You and draw us closer to Your love. Amen.
